bright.cave.kid in Berlin

Written and published on Substack from October to December 2025, bright.cave.kid in Berlin is an experiment in first-person narrative music writing and rave reportage.

In this work I engage with a digital self-publishing platform to bring a sense of immediacy and spontaneity to the process of writing, something akin to an experience of live performance.

The text is then a hybrid novella, diary, and performance recording. It uses the vocabulary of electronic music (mostly ambient techno, deep techno, psychedelic techno, hardcore experimental techno) and “the rave” as countercultural scene to illustrate a search for something ineffable, something like belonging, that takes its narrator to a new city and a new country and a new language.

It also documents a specific historical scenario and impulse: the desire to rave during the current rise of global neofascism.
